Roslyn High School launched its 2026-27 Names, Not Numbers program Oct. 5, welcoming 32 students selected to participate in the yearlong documentary film project focused on preserving history through personal stories and firsthand accounts. The kickoff event, held in the high school library, introduced students to the program’s mission of documenting the experiences of Holocaust survivors through interviews and oral history films. Michael Goldspiel, assistant superintendent of secondary education, addressed students, emphasizing the importance of preserving survivors’ memories and experiences. The program is supported by Joe Van Wie, chairperson of social studies; Christine Parente, library media specialist; and Sandy Stueber, assistant principal. Program founder Tova Fish-Rosenberg and former CBS News producer Jeffrey Salgo led the introductory session, discussing the importance of documenting individual experiences and teaching students the skills needed to conduct interview
